How to learn?

I last did programming back in 2017. After that, I switched job profiles. After losing my job, I tried many different things. Even the ones I felt passionately about. I realised I couldn’t even earn my bread butter if I pursued what I love!

So I decided to do in which I hold my research degree. Not that I didn’t like programming, I loved it but I quit it because I couldn’t create opportunities for me in the world of AI.

So here I’m, trying to create one when everyone else around is talking about AI.

I began to look out for courses that offered ML engineering and Python programming. I didn’t realise what mistake I was making again!??Until..

A person I dearly look up to called me up and dusted me off. He said, you already hold a degree in AI why would you want to relearn all those theories again!?

I said I wanted to ask you about how you learn everything in so much depth. I could never learn anything like that. Exactly my point, he said.

If you want to learn anything in depth, you gotta practice it, buddy! You can never learn anything by just reading about it.I realised what wrong I was doing for years..

In a few seconds only he listed out so many problem statements I could work on. and I was blank! How amazing he was!

We discussed the problem statement, and I narrowed it down further into smaller steps. To understand what each word meant!

I went ahead and set up the space in my system, and ran my first-ever script on Python and nothing could make me happier than that! 🙂

I read the details of the first step, read about everything that I couldn’t understand, and kept implementing. and I learned the correct way of learning anything!

Summary

To learn anything, especially programming, you need to practice, practice and practice more!

Here are the steps to help you:

  1. Take the simplest problem statement
  2. Narrow it down into smaller steps
  3. Begin with setting up the environment
  4. Understand how to install it, what are the required tools and IDEs to run your script
  5. Learn about the correct practice to install and store your program files
  6. Learn about the basics of the language
  7. Understand what each word of your step one means!
  8. Run your first script! 😉

I hope this was helpful to you. Do share and let’s learn together! In the next series of blogs, I’m going to cover more of Python and Machine Learning, stay tuned! 🙌
